Seachem Stress Guard

Seachem Stress Guard is a premium fish care conditioner designed to help reduce stress during capture, bagging, transport and general handling. Suitable for both freshwater and marine aquariums, it also supports recovery by protecting damaged tissue and helping to lower the risk of infection.

What It Does

This advanced slime coat support product helps fish cope better with stressful events while also reducing the effects of ammonia toxicity. It is especially useful when moving fish, introducing new livestock, after netting, or when fish have minor injuries, scrapes or abrasions.

Key Benefits

  • Helps reduce stress when handling or transporting fish
  • Assists in reducing ammonia toxicity during stressful situations
  • Acts as an antiseptic support for fish
  • Promotes healing of wounds and abrasions
  • Suitable for freshwater and marine systems
  • pH neutral at 7.0, so it will not alter aquarium pH even at high doses

How It Works

Seachem StressGuard contains protein-active colloids that attach to exposed protein on wounds and damaged tissue. This helps deliver the product directly where it is needed and forms a protective, bandage-like layer over abrasions while the healing process begins.

Compatibility

StressGuard is compatible with all medications except copper-based treatments. It is not amine-based, so it will not interfere with Purigen or HyperSorb regeneration. It also does not coat filter media or clog filtration equipment the way some slime coat products can.

Dosage

Use 1/2 to 1 capful (2.5-5 mL) for every 40 L (10 US gallons) daily until signs of stress have eased or healing is complete. The dose may be safely doubled when required.

Suitable For

Ideal for aquarists looking to buy Seachem StressGuard in South Africa for use during fish transport, acclimation, quarantine, routine maintenance and post-injury care in tropical, coldwater and marine aquariums.

What's Included

1 x Seachem StressGuard fish stress and wound care treatment.

Frequently Asked Questions

Can Seachem StressGuard be used in marine aquariums?
Yes. It is suitable for both freshwater and marine aquariums, with the same dosing of 2.5-5 mL per 40 L daily.

How much Seachem StressGuard should I dose?
Dose 1/2 to 1 capful, which is 2.5-5 mL, per 40 L (10 US gallons) each day until the fish has recovered or visible stress has settled. The dose can be safely doubled.

Is Seachem StressGuard safe to use with medication?
It is compatible with all medications except copper-based products. If you are treating with copper, do not combine it with StressGuard.

Will StressGuard change my aquarium pH?
No. It has a pH of 7.0 and will not affect the pH of the aquarium, even when used at larger doses.

Can I use Seachem StressGuard when transporting fish?
Yes. It is specifically useful during handling and transport, where it helps reduce stress and assists with ammonia toxicity in enclosed water volumes.

Does StressGuard affect filter media or resin products?
No. It will not coat resins or clog filtration, and because it is not amine-based, it will not interfere with Purigen or HyperSorb regeneration.
