Aquavitro Reef Calcification

Aquavitro Reef Calcification is a concentrated marine calcium supplement for reef aquarium keepers who want to restore and maintain calcium for healthy coral and coralline algae growth. Made by Seachem’s Aquavitro range, it supplies 140,000 mg/L of ionic and bioavailable gluconate-complexed calcium without affecting aquarium pH.

Key Benefits

  • Helps maintain calcium levels found in natural seawater for coral growth and calcification.
  • Provides both readily available ionic calcium and uncharged gluconate-complexed calcium.
  • Supports the utilisation of calcium, strontium and magnesium while helping keep them stable in solution.
  • Designed to avoid calcium precipitation and alkalinity depletion associated with conventional calcium chloride dosing.
  • Does not require excessively high calcium concentrations; excellent coral and coralline algae growth can be achieved from 380 mg/L total calcium.
  • The polygluconate contains no nitrogen or phosphorus and will not accumulate or promote undesirable algae when used at up to four times the maintenance dose.

How It Works
The ionic calcium fraction is immediately available to reef livestock, while the gluconate-complexed calcium is more easily absorbed by corals and other invertebrates. The polymer can also provide a food source for corals, invertebrates and denitrifying bacteria in live rock and substrate, supporting natural anaerobic denitrification.

Dosage
For beginners, add 5 mL per 70 L of aquarium water twice weekly. Test calcium weekly and adjust the amount or dosing frequency as needed.

For advanced reef aquariums, test calcium first, then dose 5 mL per 70 L until the level reaches 380–400 mg/L. Each 5 mL per 70 L raises calcium by approximately 10 mg/L. Do not exceed 15 mL per 70 L per day. Once the target level is reached, dose as required to maintain it.

Compatibility
Aquavitro Reef Calcification can be dosed daily and may be added within minutes of Aquavitro eight.four™ and the wider Aquavitro reef range. This makes it a practical calcium additive for marine reef systems using carbonate supplements.

  • 350ml

Frequently Asked Questions

What calcium level should I aim for in my reef aquarium?
Use Aquavitro Reef Calcification to adjust and maintain total calcium at 380–400 mg/L.

How much calcium does 5 mL raise in a marine tank?
A dose of 5 mL per 70 L raises calcium by about 10 mg/L.

Can I dose Aquavitro Reef Calcification with alkalinity or carbonate supplements?
Yes. Unlike standard calcium chloride products, its blend of ionic and gluconate-complexed calcium helps prevent the precipitation commonly caused when calcium and carbonate supplements meet. It can be dosed within minutes of Aquavitro eight.four™.

Will this calcium supplement affect pH or cause algae?
It is formulated to restore calcium without affecting pH. Its polygluconate contains no nitrogen or phosphorus, so it cannot lead to algae growth in a properly maintained reef aquarium.

What should I do if the liquid thickens after the cap was left off?
Evaporation can cause a precipitate to form. Add distilled or RO/DI water to the bottle, close it securely and shake vigorously until the precipitate returns to solution.
